4-H Environmental & Outdoor Education, Plant Science and Entomology Teen & Adult Volunteer Workshop

Join us for this hands-on opportunity to learn about many environmental & outdoor education, horticulture and entomology projects through fun lessons and activities.

4-H Exploration Days

Annual MSU pre-college program that attracts approximately 2500 youth participants and chaperones representing all 83 Michigan counties.  

4-H Great Lakes and Natural Resources Camp

MSU pre-college program teaches youth about Michigan’s diverse natural resources, Great Lakes ecosystems and outdoor recreation opportunities such as charter fishing, kayaking, sailing and snorkeling. 

Environmental & Outdoor Education

Aquatic ExplorationJourney through field, forest, wetlands and urban areas to discover the wonders and mysteries of Michigan’s natural environment. Through 4-H environmental and outdoor education projects you will learn about the interconnection of people and nature. You’ll also develop respect and appreciation for and a sense of stewardship toward our natural resources. Enjoy time outdoors and develop an understanding and appreciation of the environment through three core theme areas:

  • Basic science and ecology
  • Interrelationships and impacts
  • Health, wellness and positive outdoor experiences

7th annual 4-H Day at the Breslin celebrates youth development and Spartan Women’s Basketball

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University Extension (MSUE4-H Youth Development will cheer on the MSU women’s basketball team as they take on Ohio State during their Jan. 15 home game at the MSU Breslin Center. “MSUE 4-H Day at the Breslin” is a celebration of the MSUE 4-H program in Michigan.

Arthur Berkey Science Fair lets youth scientists shine, seeks proposals

The Arthur Berkey Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Science Fair is an opportunity for middle and high school students to show off their ability to apply scientific principles and emerging technologies to agriculture and natural resources. They are also seeking proposals for which the abstracts are due January 23, 2012.

Workshop reels teachers in to get kids hooked on fishing

 EAST LANSING, Mich. – Teach a teacher to fish and they’ll teach a kid a skill for life. Michigan State University’s (MSU’s) Project FISH (Friends Involved in Sportfishing Heritage) program is working with the Future Fisherman Foundation to present a two-day workshop devoted to sportfishing and aquatic resources education. The program, slated for Sept. 27-28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MSU Extension Kalamazoo Office, targets teachers and volunteers, and 4-H program leaders and other MSU Extension educators.
